Satellite registration
All satellite systems to be operated by Norwegian satellite operators must be reported to ITU via Nkom. Read more about this here.
The Norwegian Communications Authority (Nkom) is the authority responsible for frequency regulation in Norway, and authorises operators and issues permits for frequency use under specific conditions.
Frequency allocation for satellite use is a global issue and frequency coordination takes place under an international body, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in which the member countries are represented through their designated administrations. In Norway, this is Nkom.
Coordination takes place by the registration of Norwegian satellite networks with ITU. The fully coordinated registration is published and registered in MIFR, thereby achieving international protection.
Nkom owns the satellite registrations, authorises satellite operators and issues permits for coordination and use of Norwegian satellite systems.
Guidelines and regulations concerning permits

- Norwegian Regulations concerning general authorisations for the use of frequencies (General Authorisations Regulations) Chapter XII – satellite earth stations (Fribruksforskriften)
